Thigh Lift Surgery
A thigh lift is an operation which removes unattractive excess skin and fat from the thigh. Lifting and tightening the tissues helps to give the thighs a more youthful and contoured appearance.
Our expert Consultant Plastic Surgeon can:
- Smooth and tighten the skin
- Enhance the contours of the thigh
- Create a more proportionate figure
- Help to improve body confidence
Why would a thigh lift benefit me?
For some, the sense of achievement felt after losing weight can be affected by stubborn thigh fat. When skin has been stretched too far due to weight gain, it loses elasticity and struggles to shrink back to its original place after the weight is lost which often means loose skin is left behind. For others their age or genes impact the look and feel of their thighs. Whatever the reason, excess skin or fat on the thighs can have significant influence on self-confidence particularly when naked or when choosing clothes to flatter. A thigh lift will lift, tighten and smooth the skin of the thighs by removing this unwanted excess skin and fat giving you the confidence to show off your new and improved look.

Thigh Lift Consultation
To achieve the best results, it might be appropriate to combine treatment with other cosmetic procedures including liposuction and a tummy tuck (abdominoplasty).
Thigh Lift Procedure
The operation for a thigh lift is performed under general anaesthetic and takes approximately two hours.
Incisions are made close to the crease at the top of the inside thigh and frequently down the inside of the thigh. The excess skin and fat is removed and the wound is carefully closed with dissolving stitches. A thigh lift is commonly combined with liposuction to the thigh and the inside of the knee.
Thigh Lift Recovery and After Care
An overnight stay in hospital is required after the operation.
Some swelling and bruising is normal and should be expected. This bruising can take a few weeks to settle but it can take several months for the swelling to reduce completely revealing the full result of your surgery.
It is important to keep your dressings dry to aid healing.
An appointment to check your wounds will be made with a nurse around ten days after surgery. To help recovery, keep yourself mobile and wear any support garments as advised.
Sport and any heavy activity should be avoided for six weeks.
Follow up appointments will be scheduled to check on your progress.
Risks associated with Thigh Lift Surgery
Like all types of surgery, there are some risks associated with Thigh Lift surgery.
Although the risks are unlikely, it is very important to weigh them up against the benefits of the surgery. A consultation with your surgeon will help you to choose the right procedure and discuss any possible complications.
